BIGGEST CHANGE TO UNITED KINGDOM IMMIGRATION SYSTEM IN 40 YEARS

From 30 June 2008, all highly skilled workers, entrepreneurs and investors wanting to come to the UK will need to apply for their UK visa under a new points-based system.

This system will replace all of the current application categories listed below with a single application that is far easier to use.

  • Highly skilled Migrant Programme
  • Investors
  • Self-Employed Lawyers
  • Business Persons
  • Writers, Composers and Artists
  • International Graduates Scheme
  • Innovators
  • Fresh Talent: Working in Scotland

Applicants will be able to calculate how many points they will be awarded, and therefore if they are likely to be issued a visa, before making an application.

For further details, please refer to the UKBA website
